I'm going share with you one of my favorite sandwiches, tomato, mozzarella and basil sandwich. It's simple, doesn't require a lot of work, and is really really tasty.
sandwich Ingredients are:
One or two ripe tomatoes (on the vine tomatoes taste the best), fresh mozzarella (this is the soft stuff in liquid - not the hard kind you put on pizza), Italian bread or a baguette, fresh basil, olive oil, salt and pepper.
Some people like to add in additional elements to this sandwich, like olives, prosciutto and roasted peppers. I like it just fine with the basic ingredients lightly toasted.
The first step is to slice your bread or baguette in half the long ways leaving a little bit of bread to create a hinge. Put some olive oil on your bread then add slices of tomato, On top of the tomato goes the mozzarella (slices or rip it off and place it on top) After the cheese place the fresh basil salt & pepper, broil in the oven to lightly soften the cheese and then enjoy. Yummy!
